Last night coming home from the movies I was doing about 55mph on the way home all of a sudden my car started losing power and it came back on like 2 seconds later. i pulledover inspected engine and everything seemed fine except for the accesory belts which I'm going to replace this weekend with timing belt. Well i drove car the car all the home and on my street it died so i tried starting it up again but to no avail. I was about 3 buildings away from my house so i pushed it into my parking lot. When i got into my parking lot I tried starting it again it started right up but the gas pedal wasn't working. I put it into 1st gave car a lil gas and there was nothing. anyone have ideas?

check your throttle cable, but, my $ is on a clogged fuel filter

I checked the throttle/acceralation cable it seemed that the throttle/acceralation cable from the gas pedal to the links box (black box with springs where cruise control and throttle/acceralation cables connect) were severely damaged/burned :sosad:. I dont know how it happened i just purchased the car 3 months ago . I ordered a new throttle/acceralation cable and Links box (thats what dealer calls it) will install it tomorrow and let you guys know if that fixes the issue.

also where on the car is the fuel filter i spent hours on sunday looking for it ... sorry for the newbie question just got this car so i'm trying to figure it out.

Why not just buy a shop manual for the car and find the fuel filter in there. I dont know anything about 2Gs so I cant help you out there.

Problem fixed it was the acceralation/throttle cable wires. I purchased some from the stealership and the gas pedal feels a lil more responsive. Thanks for the quick replies.

how much was the parts btw?

Should of went to the junk yard if it was really expensive.

I wanted to go the junk yard but I wasn't sure how easy it would be to find the car let alone if i found a similar car it if would still have the parts I needed.

acceralation cable from peddle to links box was 58 dollars
links box was 51
acceralation cable from box to throttle was 48 dollars

Give or take a few dollars.

Also i disconnected the cruise control
