chem tech oil

I went to the local "speed" shop and asked for some red-line gear oil. They told me that they only carry chem tech oil. Then they said since I am boosted I would need the boost formula oil.

I am not going to be the one to try this stuff out but was wondering, anyone else has?

I will scan the bosure(sp) and post it in here. It has a pic of an evo by the boost.

I am not even thinking about putting it in my newly rebuilt tre stage 2. No reason to screw myself.

Their website: http://www.full-synthetic.com/_mgxroot/page_10765.html shows the Boost formula as an engine oil, not gear lube.

I couldn't find any info on Bobistheoilguy, but I'm not registered, so I cannot use the search.

^ Thats the stuff right there, I tripple dog dare someone to try it, and even if I did use the gear lube it is a GL-5 and according to Jon at TRE GL-5 does not protect the syncros as well.

If it's legal for public highway use, and it it conforms to the basic API and EPA standards, then it's probably no different from any other "performance" oil.

The best oils are the "off-road use only" ones. Deemed unhealthy due to their higher amounts of zinc and moly (which is what a performance application would want).

Definitely order some Redline for that tranny though. Jon swears by that stuff for his trannys.

I say either the Redline or the Synchroshift II. I have the Synchroshift in my TRE trans and it shifts really good.
