So, I was randomly driving home from a football game last friday night and my check engine light all of the sudden came on. I waited a week until a buddy that owns and dsm came home from college on the weekend. We meet up he read it and im getting 2 messages one is the "P0170" other one im not sure of right now but we will worry about this later. If you don't know i have been complaining about my fuel mileage for a month and you guys have been giving me answers that just haven't seemed to work. Now i know that this is my problem how do i fix this? Thanks guys

Ok, well i pulled up the code on Alldata and here are some possible issues as to why you are throwing that code. I will list all the possibilities that I have been given.

- Volume air flow sensor output frequency
- injector
- fuel pressure
- intake air leaks
- engine coolant temp sensor
- intake air temp sensor
- barmetric pressure sensor
- o2 sensor
- exhaust manifold cracks

I guess that should get you started, however I'm willing to bet its your bank 1 o2 sensor.

bank 1? im guessing the one in the manifold? I guess im just going to have to take it to the shop..i don't know how to fix any of this nor have a garage to do any of it.

Its actually really easy to do, if you have a ratchet, that's all you need. Go to a autoparts store and rent the o2 sensor tool and just pull the o2 sensor out of the exhaust manifold and pop in the new one. You can either get one that is direct plug and play or splice in. It takes like 15 to 20 minutes. A shop will probably charge u around $300 to 400 for a $100 fix. After that just have someone clear the check engine light or pull the positive on the battery and reset it.

Man i have so many problems with this damn car, washer flood hose is plugged up i guess.. alternator makes me want to kill myself after it whins for 10min LOL.. This thing is running me dry...Well i need my other sensor repositioned because its facing the ground '/' and that one may be my problem. I noticed that check engine light came on after i hit the bump going on a bridge.

That may very well be the issue then, man if u lived in ohio, i'd say come over and i'd help u out, but ## over in PA, GO BROWNS! just kidding, but yea, u may have taken out some wires if that was the case.
