Well first off, I have a 2gb 7-bolt (1997) with 190,:cry::cry: miles on her. My motor is all stock, running stock piping to the t-25 small. Other things, to let you guys know. I have a k&n air filter intake cone, a HKS ssqv (re-circulated) and a muffler tip with NGK bpr7es's.
-The problem with my car is that it burns oil and it smokes blue.

-I lose quite a bit of oil a week; probably half a quart a week.

-And when blue smoke dumps out my tail pipe it is usually when I take off from a stop light and happens worse when I let it idle for a bit.

-My car is turbo timed @ 30 seconds everyday and after a hard worth of driving, 1 minute to cool and boosts fine at all numbers between 1-14 psi.

-Well one day, I just got fed up with adding oil almost every 3 days and thinking that it was my turbo so I bought another t-25 small for 100 bucks locally and only having 17,000 miles on it along with BAER rotors drilled and slotted rotors for 20 :shhh:.

-Before I get to work on my car, I just wanted to make sure that it is my turbo that has bad seals and so I know I fixed this damn problem or my cylinder head needs work.

Note: Another thing, I forgot to mention at the beginning of the post, I discovered that oil, leaks/spurts out of my exhaust manifold and right past the gasket.

-I took the ex.manifold off and examined it.

-I saw that there was a lot of ashy like build up at the ports of the ex.manifold and at the ends of the exhaust side of the cylinder head.

-I diagnosed that it was normal build up from the 190,:cry::cry: miles on her and diagnosed that the oil is comming from my turbo whenever I boost, oil would seap past the seals, up the ex.mani and from the sides of it when I saw it. Right or wrong?

My turbocharger or valve guide or stem seals?

Thanks so much for reading guys! :)

(I'll take pics of my turbo OE swap/replacement for everyone and post it.)

Sounds like your valve guide seals to me. With that high of milage its very possible. I had bad seals before and it smoked just like yours.

Yup. If there is oil in the exhaust manifold it is most likely engine related (i.e. valve guides/stem seals or piston ring issues.) Try doing a leak down test and go from there. On a related note, replacing the turbo is probably not a bad idea, since you already bought it, especially with 190k on the clock.

Here is a quik way to tell what is letting the oil leak, it won't be you intake valves so if it is your exhaust vales then put a tissue over your exhaust pipe, if the tissue sucks in at any point of your engine cycle then it is an exhaust vale. The take your oil filler cap off and put the tissue on that, if it blows the tissue up then it is your rings.

A 2g with 190,xxx.Thats amazing.
I would deff say engine oil control problem, ex. rings, valve guide seals
I agree with everybody.Do a leakdown test.
I would also like to say your article was very informative. And easy to read.Thats not to common in the new member section.

I was hoping it was only my turbo. :notgood: I really don't know what to do. I am 18 and don't have a lot of cash to take it to a shop and all because..I don't know how to do timing..:tease: If it that part was taken out, it would be a breeze to do.

Now, I am not even sure if I should even swap the turbos because the one in my car now has way less play than the one I just bought.

If your turbo leaks oil or whatever would it be leaking out of the sides of itself or can it be internal?

*sigh* I guess I have to use lucas's oil treatments and what not. Hopefully it is not the rings because they are 180 across.

pitbull419-thanks buddy!

Hey guys... I might be missing something, but isn't the stock T-25 water cooled? (& therefore not capable of leaking oil)
