Hey guys, i just have a quick question. its coming up to the time where i need to do my first oil change on my 95 eclipst gst. The car looks like it has an oil filter relocation kit on it, and an oil cooler. Is there anything special i have to do to make sure i get all the old oil out of the turbo, and the oil cooler? i know how to do my own oil changes, im just new at the turbo setup. thanks. any edvise is appreciated.

Do you have a pic of where the oil filter is relocated and of the oil cooler? The reason I ask about oil cooler is the 1990 6 bolt came with a stock oil cooler so that would mean you have a 6 bolt swapped in.... OR you have the rare 7 bolt oil filter housing with the provisions for an external oil cooler.

heres the pictures of my engine bay. i labeled where i think the oil cooler and oil filter is at. i would feel pretty stupid if those weren't them. haha.

Just go ahead and change the oil and filter and don't worry about the rest.

I agree as well.

I was interested in that "oil cooler". Sure doesnt look like the typical oil cooler. (unless thats water cooled) Run you eyes or hands along the lines that run to that and see where they run. That will tell you what it is.

Your oil filter is in the right spot. It's right below the alternator and next to the downpipe.

As far as the silver box underneath your filter, I can't tell from the picture what it is. Does it have lines running to it? If so, trace them back to where they're coming from. Or do some more snooping around and maybe see if you can find what's inside or under the silver cover.

But you should have no problem replacing the oil and filter.

It looks to me like the silver box is a catch can, especially if that is a breather filter attached to the top.

Just drain the oil and change the filter normally.

Now that I look at it closer, I would have to agree with you. I didn't notice the breather the first time. Also, it looks like the vacuum hose from the valve cover breather runs down to that area (instead of going to the intake).

Also, your coolant line from the thermostat housing to the overflow bottle looks pretty nasty. I sure hope that your coolant in the overflow bottle doesn't look like that. :barf:

hey, thanks for the advice, i did my oil change and everything went smoothly.
