ok. So i got a 93 tsi talon and my rear axle is making a really loud popping noise when i accelerate..so i put it on a rack and had someone accelerate and press the breaks at the same to time give it some load, and sure enough it was the rear axle..i dont have the money to get it rebuilt so im just going to eliminate it for the time being..i took the rear drive axles out and the drive shaft out..what do i do now??

Well with no drive shaft your transfer case wont hold any fluid and that won't be good for it. Plus your center diff will send the power to the path of least resistance which is to the transfer case. I don't think your car will run as just a fwd without some serious tranny work. You should park it until you can fix it properly.

yeah thats not gonna work. All your going to do is damage the transmission and leak t-case fluid.

Ask me from experience... If you have the factory 2 Spider center differential in your transmission and you remove/break the rear differential the car will go nowhere. If you have the 2 spider center differential and a non LSD rear differential, and you blow a rear axle, the car will go nowhere. If you have the LSD rear differential and your rear axle breaks you will shorten the life of the LSD.:nono:

well see im kind of going to try to custamize it alittle..im going to drill through he part of the driveshaft that connects to the transmission and tap into the yoke..then thread both of them and put a bolt in so it wont leak..

Sound's questionable to me... Could cost you alot more then an axle down the road. Axles are cheap to rebuild, less than 100 dollars. If its just the boot thats torn, it will be less then 50. I payed 30 dollars to have my rear axle rebuilt, and it only took them an hour.

I agree, your making way more work for yourself then necessary. I got a used axle put in and installed for like $45, they had one laying around the shop :D You should definitely just fix it now while thats the only thing you need to fix.

Is this a joke? Fix it right. I will be the one to tell you that unless you run a VCE (costs more then a new rear axle), you can't do it safely without damaging ANY other parts. So if you can't afford a little rear axle for the car, do it a favor and put it in storage until you get some financial stability.

yeah i can see what your sayin...but i took the drive axles and the driveshaft out..so the rear diff isnt spinning and wont lock up and i capped off the front diff so it wont leak..seams to be running ok...i cant launch or ill just ruin my clutch and rubber..but where could i go to get a new rear diff because my drive axles are fine and so is my driveshaft..its the rear diff internal gears..i think i broke i tooth on it.

That's easy man! Just pull off the differential cover, find what's wrong and fix it. Its not going to be that expensive. If you find that you broke a tooth or something, find the part from a junkyard. You'll have to spend a little time getting a replacement in a field filled with broken cars!!!! (Who doesn't enjoy that?) Then just fix it. Very little money involved and you might just learn a little more about your car.

If you need help, just re post. The best part about it is if you want new parts, get new ones. It your afraid you'll mess up or get lost... I'm sure there is an auto shop somewhere in the Carolinas that has a good prices.

Don't look at is as "A broken car"...:sosad:
Look at it like "A project" or even "A learning experience".;)

I agree with vinnio, much better to do the work yourself and get to know your car.

yeah, i try to do most of the work myself..my diff is still in the car so tomarrow im going to take it apart and see what i need to replace or if i could just fix it from their..thanks alot:thumb:

try not to drive it though, before the fix costs you more than it should.
