Hey Guys,

I just tried connecting my logger programs to my car and they both said they couldn't connect. Does any one happen to know what the DB-9 (serial) connection is supposed to be for the Alex C. Peper Datalogger program. My brother had the cable with ODBII connector, but he wasn't sure about the BD-9 to RJ-45 connector. I'd really like to get this working so I can put on the AFC & 660's. Any Ideas?

It's a OBDII to RJ-45 (ethernet cable) standard ethernet cable then a RJ-45 to DB-9 (serial) I've been connecting it using the Belkin F5U109 USB to ethernet connection. i may try another one or a PCMCIA Serial card (if I can borrow one from work)

My brother said he had this problem about 2 years ago when he tried toconnect it to one of his friends cars. I have a 95 and I know some OBDII code readers won't work on it, I'm wondering if its the same with the programs.

I was stupid and left the PCMCIA card at work...

I found this diagram for the ISO 9141 to DB-9 but it requires a chip:
http://pinouts.ru/CarElectronics/obdii_cables_pinout.shtml

Also I found another site that shows how to make one:
http://hem.passagen.se/tomasf/obd2/

But these don't help, I've been trying to find the diagram for the OBD-2 program or the OBDtool program. Its supposed to just be a cable...unless that's what is wrong with it is I have the wrong DB-9 connector that doesn't have the resisters in it.

ok, I've figured out this much, just need to fill in the 2 gaps on the DB9 connector.

I just need to figure out where the Red and green wire go.

Seriously, NO ONE on this site has any idea? NO ONE on this site has ever used any kind of Data logger or cable?

I fail to believe that, when all I ever hear is "Get DSMlink" or "Get a logger first" but when I do you are all to unwilling to help :( what's the deal?

The deal is that a majority of people on here pay for Pocketlogger which comes with a very nice data cable and GREAT software.

I run a datalogger myself, but couldn't tell you the first thing about how the cable works.

Well that was the thing, my brother paid for OBD-2 & OBDtool. the OBS-2 came with this cable, and now its not working. So I wanted to see if anyone on here could possibly check to see what their Serial pin out is. I was going to check what my default pin out was by putting a paper clip in each hole, use a multi-meter or something similar to check to see which connection came out where.

Thanks for the response :thumb:, I was getting frustrated that people were giving me absolutely no input

Ok so I have the pinout of the cable I have, but i still don't have anything to compare it too.
