ok so this is alternator 3 for me and I wondering if I have an oil issue. I just pulled my 2 year old alternator off and it is just caked in oil and grease, I looked at the mounting bracket and they are just caked also. The oil pump is caked in grease also, and to add to that I have my oil guage telling me I have extremely high oil pressure along with all of this. I was wondering if anyone had any advice becasue I'm stumped as what to do. Obvioulsy I have a leak, but why would the pressure be so high? and then is this leak the cause of my alternators being burned alive?:dsm:

Please help a newbie

I doubt its the oil pump leaking, its more like the power steering pump leaking down on to the alt. check the PS pump for leaks.

1. Leaky PS pumps are the number one alternator killer.

2. What are your oil pressure readings under different driving conditions?

3. Are your balance shafts removed?
