I recently (a few months ago) purchashed a 95'
Talon Tsi Awd
Unfortunately before this I wasn't really a car person
, but I've jumped head first into learning about vehicles, specifically mine
.
When I got it, it came with just the one key, and no fob's of any sort so I assumed that there was no keyless entry or alarm system. Upon further research throughout the forums I've discovered that I've got both...
I've looked into the keyless, and I've attempted to trace down my alarm system so I could obtain a fob and use that - but I've encountered issues amongst a mess of wires. I have many aftermarket adjustments to the inside of my car, one of which being a turbo timer (the list also includes backlit gauges, air/fuel ratio guage, turbo guage, and hardwired radar detector). Research has revealed to me that this (the turbo timer) is more than likely the reason that my alarm system is disabled (the shut off button has no cords connected to it, and the wire heading to the light by the cig lighter runs off under the dash into my wonderful jumble of wires...)
I couldn't figure out if the alarm system was factory or not.
So my questions would be:
If I can locate the proper wires would it be risky for a novice to attempt to repair an alarm system with the turbo timer or should I just leave it and take it to a shop?
and
Does the installation of a turbo timer disable factory keyless entry as well, or can I get a remote and have keyless before repairing the alarm system?
