Alright so here is the story...

Clutch is only 20,000 miles

My shifting was starting to get really "clunky" so I replaced the slave cylinder and that did nothing.

So then I bought a master cylinder with intentions of putting it in, but before I had the chance to swap it in the old one took a dump on me at the gas station (was leaking clutch fluid through the firewall.)

towed it home and put the new master in. Bled the system, got all the air out, and got the clutch to have normal pressure again. So i tried to shift and it wont go into gear no matter how hard I push.

It has normal pressure but wont engage. Any suggestions?

That's a tough call especially if you bled it correctly and there really is no air in the system. So it had good pressure after you replaced the master and bled it and then it lost pressure again? Did you replace the slave and master with new OEM parts or used? I highly doubt it, but definitely look for the symptoms of crankwalk. I'd bleed it again per VFAQ and then see what happens. If you can't get any pressure then it could be something mechanical and not hydraulic. I wish I could be of more help and not so general, but I can only do so much via speculation. Good luck with it though. I've had clutch pressure issues in my 95 TSi as well but a good bleeding and an extended slave cylinder rod helped matters a ton.

I have good clutch pressure now with the new master, I dont get it, it just wont go into gear everything feels good with the pedal, just doesnt go into gear.

The tranny and clutch felt good until the master went out so I doubt the problem is either of those.

I have tried adjusting it for hours, it does nothing.

The slave and master were new from autozone

Any updates on this? I'm in the same boat right now. Putting new master and slave on this weekend. If I have to pull the tranny again I'm going to scream:barf:

I just ran into this same problem. My clutch was sometimes "squishy" and sometimes nice and solid and then all of a sudden it got squishy to the point where i could barely get it to engage so i could change gears. Once or twice i pushed it down and it would not come up on it's own. I figured that I needed a new master cylinder because the boot was leaking so I changed that out today we also drained the old fluid and began bleeding the clutch. The fluid filters through very slowly and comes out almost black. We got barely any pressure back in the clutch and have been bleeding it for at least 30 minutes. At first the car would go in gear while it was running weather the clutch pedal was down or not but would not stall. After we dropped it off the jacks it wont go in gear with the car running but does when the car is off.

I had that issue after i put a new clutch in. I found out tat my slave and master broke. The shop said something about already being worn out and putting a new clutch in blew them out. I had both the master and slave replaced and now they are fixed.
