How to indentify the year of a 7-bolt Shortblock

I was given a short block that is supposed to be from a 99....anyway to verify that?

I can't remember if the block has a VIN on it like the the tranny does.
But if there's a VIN number on the block, just check the 10th digit.

It has a short one, under 4g63. It says "PR4189". That is all i found. :dunno:

VIN is on the flywheel side, upper left corner. Very small letters & numbers. You may need to spray some grease cleaner on the area to see it.
