If I try to go WOT, my car breaks up and the wideband goes straight to lean. The car is also hesitating at times....WHAT COULD THIS BE. I cant figure it out, and niether can my other DSM buddies. I just want to be able to go to the track again. Mods in my profile.

That happened to me when I got my mass airflow sensor wet. I made the stupid mistake of trying to wash it with soapy water and what you described happened. You've been on here awhile so, I am pretty sure you have checked pretty much everything out. So, I would suggest that you check your wiring from your main sensors and see if any of them went out or the wires got busted or corroded. Do you remember doing anything to your car right before this happened?

Hmm ok. Ill swap my MAS with one of my friends...see if that changes anything, and rule that out. So far, we've ruled out its not the injectors, or fpr, or ecu.

Anyone else have any more suggestions?

Its not detonating is it? I had the same thing happen to my Starion, and it turned out it was a combo of bad fuel pump and bad timing.:notgood:

No this isn't considered detonation. I ran rediculously rich when this happened. I got 5 miles to the gallon. I was blowing out alot of black smoke when I was driving on the freeway.

The fastest my car would go was 86mph. Luckily I got a good mass for $90 and fixed the problem right away.

He said it was leaning out.....

Check the FPR boost reference line (vacuum line the runs from FPR to intake manifold). Make sure there is no leaks or cracks in the line. This will cause LEAN afrs at WOT because there is no more fuel pressure added when you hit boost. Besides that, A bad TPS sensor will also have a similar effect on the fuel. If there is no leaks between the FPR and intake mani suspect a bad TPS sensor. See if you can borrow or get one off a freind or forum.

If you dick up the mass it could go either way. There are a number of things in there that affect a lot of different parts in the ecu.

A datalog would help a little to see what exactly is affected. But, like you said there are many different parts that would fail that could cause the same affect.

I fixed the problem guys. The fuel pump literally fell out of the assembly and was basically floating in the tank. Put it back in TIGHT, and it runs like a champ. 25psi feels GREAT! Traction in 1st gear is a thing of the past.

I had the same problem of lean when my fuel pump took a crap. Never heard of one falling out, with a ziptie around it and the proper screw holding the plate, that shouldn't have happened, odd.

Well we thought to check that since we rulled out the injectors and the FPR. Opened the access panel for the pump, and there it was just dangling. We think its because I have a 1g fuel pump instead of the 2g...the set up's are a little different, but it works the same. So I guess it fit a bit wierd and fell out. We grabbed some stainless steel wire and wrapped it around the assembly and the pump, and its not moving. We were gonna use zip ties but figured the gas would just eat it up. Hopefully the stainless holds up!
