i have a 98 gst and i baught a full exhaust sytem turbo back and ever since that day my car throws out a good amount of smoke whiteish smoke... i took it to a local shop and he does very good work and said it was most likly my turbo, so after some time i had my turbo rebuilt and put back in.... he said smoking would reduce in about a month...a month goes by and i see no improvments.... now he says he needs to run a compression leak test to see if it is the piston rings and i will probly need a new engine now, is that what it seems or what? just wanted to get some imput from people with the dsm's...thank you

White smoke. Solid white or is it grey or blueish white?

White smoke tends to be a coolant/water leak.

A compression test would be good in this situation.
