what u guys think of a MAF Translator? im about to install the evo3 16g with 650 injectors and i need to tune the car abviously, but i heard that maf translator is pretty good at it.

If you are looking into getting the MAF-T for tuning (since you're getting bigger injectors), then you should read more about it as it is not a good device to use for tuning. If you're looking to get rid of the stock MAS (on the end of the intake pipe before the filter) and put in a GM MAF, then yes, you will need to get a MAF-T to translate the GM signal to something our ECU can read. If you plan on getting it to tune your bigger injectors with, you should look into an S-AFC. This is what a lot of people use to accommodate bigger injectors. And if you're looking to tune the car overall (not just the A/F ratio), then look into DSMlink, ECU+, or one of the other tuning programs out there.

If you know what you are doing, you can get a better tune out of a translator. I am not saying it is as easy but it can be don't, i have seen it many times, and have experienced it in my car

I have the gen II, while tuning fuel is cool, there was latency with throttle response big time. But when I bought link, and used it with the MAFT to read the signal from the GM MAF, considerable difference and you can get rid of the factory maf if you want. So if you can do link and MAFT, do it. If not... save up for link, trust me, you will not regret it, link is the shit... and the new version that will soon be dropping will officially put AEM on it's back... based of course on price comparison! Just my opinion ya'll, as always do your own research and don't make the mistake of buying shit right away, do it right the first time so don't be over anxious with modding!

Carry on... LOL

There is no way your going to get a better tune with a MAFT over DSMLink unless your down right retarded. I have both and could never get the tune right with the MAFT. I now run the MAFT only to run the GM MAS and tune with link. In fact I can't wait till the new vervision of link comes out so I can get rid of that POS MAFT!!

If what you're saying is true, they are going full speed density? I need to find out if they are!

The DSMlink isn't completely necessary depending on how far you go with modding your car. With what you have here you could just be fine with a SAFC. But of course with AEM or a DSMlink you can get a better tune. Everything your going to be doing along the way depends on how well you want to treat your car. Remember, tuning is where the real power is at.

Read up on stuff. Theres too many threads about this kind of stuff. Good luck though. :thumb:

But an S-AFC only controls fuel. DSMlink will control a lot more, plus log (which is something everyone should have)! AEM will be a bit more expensive and a lot bigger of a headache to tune. DSMlink is a bit cheaper (especially if you have an EPROM ECU) and easier for the common person to use.
