I'm looking at couple plymouth lasers to turn possibly into circle track racers. Before I sit down and do the real research I just need a couple questions answered. The car is a 90 laser and there alot of aftermarket hopups? Which motors are interchangeable. It has a dohc in it right now non turbo. Are they a fast car? Any suggestions or tips please let me know [email protected] thank you for your time.

i have a 93 eclipse gs which is pretty much the same my car is pretty fast we both have the same motor and trans and all that so i dont think that you will have to much of a problem it all depends what you will be racing you can do some mods to it to get some extra hp if you have any other questions about it you can send me a pm or just reply back

Yeah... You can pick up an old 1G if your lucky for like $1500. will be a lot more worth while. especially if you want to do any kind of racing. The money you spend swapping in a motor you could just put into a car that already has a turbo. :thumb:

Thanx for the help so far To fill in alittle I am not able to run a turbo so it will be straight up.Looking around and I have couple questions. I notice there is a 6 &7 bolt engine what is the difference what years and cars they come and which is better. Is theree diff throttle bodies? Does the talon eclpise and lasers interchange? I'm running a asphalt oval track 1/3 mile. my yahoo and windows live messenger is wursterracing if anybody wants to im me feel free to I need alot of help Thank you

The main diference between the 6 bolt and the 7 bolt are how many bolts it uses to connect the flywheel to the crankshaft. The 6 bolt motor is the more sought after motor. The 90-92.5 Lasers, Talons, and Eclipses have the 6 bolts in them.

Are the suspesion pretty tunable? We run camber and play with springs to make cars corner better. The motors are suppose to be stock but we do what we can to get some out of it things taht are not real noticable. Diff throttle bodies possible minor head work LOL. How many horse can you get out of a non turbo dohc engine without majior motor work.?

Since you said "stock" motor, I would definitely consider the 4G63T, since that was a factory engine, and it has an additional 60-ish hp above the non-turbo 4G63.

There are also differences in the size of the bearings, the big end girdle design, crank treatment and other triviata.

I'd rather run the 7 bolt 93-94 nt motor if you can't go turbo as it has a slightly lower reciprocating mass due to thinner rods. Big problem if you're trying to make 500hp, but good advantage if you're limited to stock internals an naturally aspirated.
