i just changed my head and turbo setup. i went from stock 14b to a 50trim turbo and the car idles real rough and seems to be backfireing in the turbo manifold. i tried to rev it to see if i can get any boost but goes to 0 on the boost gauge at a high rpm and then backfires. can anyone help me?

The popping is most likely related to some sort of intake leak. Not boosting while sitting is not really relevant, seems like it'd be pretty tough for a stock compression 1g motor to spool a 50 trim without a load.

EDIT: Also, you might list all your engine modifications to help other members get a better idea of your setup, to help them give you a possible diagnosis.

I'm willing to bet that your issue does not lie with your new turbo. If you just replaced your head, make sure your timing marks are all lined up when the engine is TDC. If they are, make sure that you are getting proper compression across all four cylinders. If those still check out, I would check ignition related components, boost leaks, spark plug type / gap , wires, MAF, etc.

Ill try everything I can as in compression test check every little thing boost leak test and see ### happens
