I'm looking to make a completely looking stock Talon that can suprise a lot of people. I want it to look stock under the hood as well.

Here's what I'm thinking....

2.5 or 3" exhaust and downpipe....turndown closer to the end, but stock tailpipes still visible at the rear. Manual boost controller hidden in the engine bay, brought stock turbo up to 15psi. All of the free mods & K&N filter.

Are 13's with a decent launch within reach? Any comments? I'm new to dsm's and not sure how they respond to these mods.

 Just curious all2muchfun... but what in the bloody hell propsed you to say something like that. Do you even know what those do? What relevenace does a vpc have to being a 13second sleeper?

Crazeinc,

I wouldnt suggest getting a DP that is larger than the catback itself. If anything just keep it 2.5" and run it into some type of custom muffler, or bore out the stock muffler and enlarge the pipes. You DONT need a supra sidemount and you dont need a VPC  You may consider rewiring your fuel pump if your going to be running more boost, doing the free mods, get some intercooler piping and turn it up ;) Im sure if you lighten the car a little (not needed) with some good driving, race fuel and like 16-17psi you could get a 13 pretty easily.

id say get a full turboback and just get a muffler that looks similar to the one you have or a muffler that just isn't shiney cuz 90 percent of the world doesn't know what exact muffler is supposed to be on your car. (pretty much exactly what candela said). You could get RNR's exhaust and their oval muffler looks just like sum normal muffler, so most people would think its just a normal exhaust. you could get a bigger fuel pump too, no one will see that so no one will have to know about it. you could turn the psi up a lil higher than 15, i had 17 on my 14b. You can hide your mbc pretty easy too. and i think a supra sidemount isn't a horrible idea, because no average person is going to notice you've changed it. i really don't have anything to add that hasn't been said, 13seconds isn't a hard thing to reach in an AWD with good driving and basic mods

Yes, the VPC eliminates the MAF getting more air to the engine and also lets you control fuel to the engine(readers digest version). And he could put it inside the car so no one can see it. It all so depends were he is! Around here at 4500' it takes alot more to hit 13's. And another thing I don't believe in race gas. If your not going to run it on the street why run it at the track. And I was just throwing out Ideas for him. A kid here only ran 13.8 With Buschur front mount, VCP. Full 3" Exhaust, Fuel pump Plugs and wires, and Free mods I believe. And thats with a good launch, and engine in good shape. And he said he "wanted to keep engine bay stock" which means no UICP.

A small 16G and a Big 16G look just like stock. Injector upgrades look almost stock if you take the stickers off them. Get an Apex Super AFC and hide it in the center console. You could hit 12's with a stock looking car.

You should try getting a Supra SMIC. And Maybe a VPC and other fuel mods.

The guy is practically stock and the first thing you suggest him to upgrade is to VPC?

I was going to suggest a standalone fuel management system and some NOS floor mats. j/k Really though, a VPC...someone should read an upgrade path:thumb:

And with this type of thinking...you're an idiot. There is a reason they let people run on the track...IT'S LEGAL. Plus you won't kill the falimy in the car that you slam into when you loose control of your car.

People, please I beg of you, don't race of the street. Besides, the people that want to street race most of the time are kids in civics with stickers...what's the point.

A VPC: Vein Pressure Converter, I believe. It allows you to change the way that the intake air is measured. Cute side effect is being able to have your BOV expel to atmos. instead of back into the intake cycle, which makes for a quaint semi-rice noise. Honestly though, you really don't need a VPC unless you are doing some higher up mods. You can get a 1g AWD into 13's easy. Simplest way would probably be exhaust, mbc, rewired/hardwired fuel pump, and some freemods.

Crazed, just get a dual tip non polished muffler and no one will really know the difference. MBC you can hide easily. Fuel pump is really a must if you plan to go over 15 psi. Either hardwire/rewire or upgrade your stock fuel pump. Only problem with upgrading your stock fuel pump, is if you go to a 255 Walboro (supra) you'd probably be in a better state of mind if you upgraded your fpr also. You're best bet would be to just check out the vfaq's or the tuning guide on here to figure the best way to go about everything.

so, if you hit a car with a family in it at the track you wont kill the family inside?

You know I'm just trying to make poeple understand that it's not smart or safe to race on the street. But in the end it's up to you if you want to take the chance of loosing your car, getting fined, or worse. If you want to post dumb ass comments like this, that just tells me that you're retarded and that there's no hope for you.

Well dude you ever hear of backroads? You can do max speed on them the whole time and not see another car come at you or have to pass for MILES

Man there's some ignorance in here sometimes.

For a completely "stock looking" car, *I'd* get a VPC/Supra SMIC, black powdercoated intercooler and intake piping (looks like stock), 550's, and all other supporting mods, with a Big16g or Sleeper 16g from FP.

Keep the stock airbox, but take the MAF out and tape over or make a plate to cover the MAS plug. You ever see the stock airmeter? I'm thinking a 3" hole flows just a BIT more than the MAF does.

You need some sort of fuel control, at least to run higher boost on a stock *appearing* turbo, unless you want to be ghetto and use the dimestore FCD method. And if you're already in need of fuel control, and since he can't use a 2gmas if he wants the engine bay to look stock. . . DING DING DING, VPC with no MAS but keeping the stock airbox!

Now mind you, I'm taking the stock-looking-sleeper concept a bit far, but I plan on having my car in this similar/exact configuration for a while before putting my FMIC/big turbo on my car.

Edit: almost forgot, water/alcohol injection. Best mod if you want to keep the stock intercooler for a little while, since it'll cool your intake temps quite a bit, staving off detonation. (Yes I know it's considered a band-aid by some, but it does work)
