Dead engine, can anyone help diagnose?

I am looking at a talon tsi and all of the info that the guy could give me was
"WHEN I WAS COMING BACK HOME I HEARD A SMALL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE, I STOPPED AND CHECKED THE OIL, EVERYTHING WAS FINE SO I KEPT GOING, THE NOISE WAS A LIL BIT LOUDER AND THE CAR DIED, SO I GOT IT TOWED TO MY HOUSE(ONE PISTON DOES NOT HAVE ANY COMPRESSION)".
He doesn't know much about cars, so I really can't ask him to elaborate on it.
I am sorry if I don't have much info, but this is all I can give.
