ok i have read probably everything i could possibly find on this website, dsmlink forums, and dsmtalk. i am still confused about the installation of this LC1. i have read so much, its pretty much all cluttered up in my head, so i guess i might be making this harder on myself, but i would rather be safe than sorry.

i know us 1st gen guys has "one" n/b O2 sensor in the exhaust manifold, and its for closed loop. i also know since i have the MAFT i can use the baro input on the computer since its not used.

my questions are...

1st - do i need to leave the factory n/b in its location in the exhaust manifold and leave it hooked up as well for closed loop and just cut the wire at the ECU? whats the whole deal with that?

i am mounting the innovate w/b right before the flex section in my downpipe, where it will fit between the back of the block and lower part of the firewall and CV shaft.

2nd - i have read many different issues about how to ground the wires on the LC1, some guys say ground the wires together, i have seen others saying, they had to go back and ground them seperate?

what i really wanna know is where have the majority of you guys grounded your wires inside the vehicle (near the ECU or what), and did you ground them together or leave them grounded seprately?

3rd - this really isn't a question, more or less correct me if i am wrong here. once i get everything hooked up on the LC1 i need to hook the LC1 into my laptop and setup the voltage on the LC1, then i will have to run the DSMlink and pull up the wideband option in the captured values.

those are pretty much my only questions for now, i am sure i will have some more before too long, i just hope this thread will help out others later on. i'm doing this to consolidate all the seperate threads into one solid thread. i guess, i will see how this goes.

thnaks, chad

that sort of helped, but they was talking about grounding with the XD gauge which i dont have. buti dont think that will play any part of the other ground wires. what i still need to figure out is, where everyone is grounding there wires at (near the ECU, or just any solid metal surface under the dash?)

The ecu brackets or ground points but use a different one for the heater.

ok so any of the 3 ECU bracket screw points will work, and ground the heater wire to another bracket point correct, just as long as its not ground with the others?

yes the ecu is grounded through the case so you were correct.

ok sounds good, there's one question solved.

now i just need to figure out the whole deal with the actual O2's. as stated in the 1st question on the 1st post.

you can use the lc1 to sim the NB O2 and put a plug in the O2 housing if you want. Also you need a resistor on the heater wires but you'll have to find the value of it

so your saying i dont even need the stock O2 in there? i can just use the plug i got with my LC1 setup and cap it off? then just leave the factory wiring harness for the factory O2 hangin in the engine bay (not literally hanging though)

you kind of lost me on the resistor part, i think i have seen a wiring diagram of something like that in the past, but i have no clue where that was. can you explain it to me, or hook me up with a link?

cbass, thanks for your input on this.

anybody else have anything they might want to add?

since there isnt really any kind of article or good write on this once i get all the info i need, i am probably going to do a step by step instructions on the install.
