ok heres the story ive got a built motor and trans with a 13b or 13g w/e you wanna call it. i had the boost turned up 2lbs with the stock pump in and notice it was running alittle to lean so i turned it down and got a walbro 255 fuel pump it was used only had 5k on it and got it cheap. anyways put it in and i used to get 200 miles to a tank and now its on 180 of 200 and ive got over 1/4 left!

With normal day-day driving, boosting hard occasionally, I get 250 miles on the tank. There are a number of reasons this change could've improved fuel economy. Just make sure you're not leaning out and enjoy the change.

To elaborate (I'm bored):

Top off the tank.
Reset your trip odometer.
Next time you fill up, top it off again.
Divide trip odometer reading by gallons on the gas pump readout. That's your MPG. Mine's currently about 21mpg. Drops below 20mpg when using A/C occasionally. YMMV ;).

Reset your trip odometer.

Repeat as long as you care about your mileage.

200 miles to a tank and your happy? I get around 325 a tank in my 2G. I get around 32MPG all highway or 23MPG all city and about 26MPG mixed. Thats crappy ass gas mileage(200 miles a tank). Are you putting these miles on a 1/4 at a time or what?

i get about 120 miles per tank....

Every car is different, i think the 2g gsts have a bigger thank than the awds anyway.
[You keep thinking, Sundance. That's what you're good at. Although you're wrong.]

I don't do any freeway driving (5 mile commute if that, and I don't really use the car much for more than that). I get 21-22mpg without A/C.

Mythbusters is bullshit in many cases. Compressing a gas takes energy, and it sure as hell doesn't come from the sun. I can't guage how many mpg it costs, but it ain't free. I rarely use A/C, so I have no idea what the impact is on my fuel economy.

And to compare apples to apples, compare MPG using the method I posted earlier (it's pretty damned easy to do once you get into the habbit).

My tank holds over 12 gallons, but not 13 (2g AWD). I'm not sure about the guy getting 120 miles per tank. If he could check his mileage and isn't stomping it everywhere, then I'd say he has a problem if he's getting less than 17mpg.

I agree......MythBusters is complete BS. I was like WTF when I heard that crap....

Anyway, yeah you may have an issue if you are getting that shoddy mileage on a regular basis. Are you getting on it a lot?

Do you know what the fuel capacity is between the two models? Edmunds has them both at 15.9 gallons.

I pull 20 and 23 depending on season and conditions. AWD doesn't help. Neither does my low compression.

*edit* and to throw my bit is about AC. Ask anyone with a low powered "efficient" car how it effects mileage and power. If you've got plenty of power to spare you won't notice it as much, but hop into a metro and I gaurantee you'll notice the difference.

the mythbusters were using full size SUV's at interstate speeds, comparing the power to turn the compressor vs the extra drag w/ the widows down. If I remember correctly the ac won. It has nothing to do with using it around town. I run my gst to the beach(all interstate) with the ac on all the way and get just over 30 mpg. I'll pay that price to stay cool. :) I still get 20-21 regular driving and I use the ac all of the time. Ive never checked it with out the ac on for a whole tank.(I like A/C as you can see. :thumb:

id love to fill the tank and rest the cunter and tell you guys what im geting but i can't at the momet. had alittle issue with bolts snaping off when i took the fuel sending unit out so i droped the tank and a tempted a fix no good. so im looking at another tank and i figured id get a steal braided line to go from the tank to the filter so i ordered it today. Come to find out my main fuel line is leaking!!! :( hopefully the kit gets here by friday and ill have my weekend project :)

I usually get around 19mpg, but it's mostly non-highway. I consciously tried to take it easy one week to see if my mileage would improve, but it didn't make a significant difference. That was a particularly boring week behind the wheel.

Has anyone here tried using these FFI caplets yet? I have and they worked very well for my dad and I. I did not believe this at first myself but after trying them am a doubting Thomas no more. I get about 24.5 mpg with out trying on my 95 Awd with the mpg caps. here is there web site they explain how it works to increase fuel economy and performance. There address is http://www.myffi.biz/en/. I don't expect any of you to believe me but i have used it for about 3 months now and im lovin it. I gained 5.5 miles per gallon from this.

i know this thread is a while ago...but i just wanted to throw out there that I get about 370 miles per tank and that comes out to about +/- 28 mpg. i dont know why im not seeing any of these numbers in any of your replies...i boost 15psi all the time and im not lean either. maybe im just lucky :D

and thats highway and city...
