high idle AFTER warm up

ok so i have a freshly rebuilt motor and ever since i reinstalled it it has had a high idle. it seems to "stick" at a certain rpm usually anywhere from 1100 to 2000 rpms' more often its around 1500. whats strange to me is if i "blip" the throttle 500 of so RPM's it will drop down to a normal idle 700-900. also sometimes if i accelerate hard then have to stop fast and push in the clutch the car will almost stall, and sometimes it does stall....im very confused by this and for once since ive owned this car there are NO check engine lights on...thanks in advnce guys.

Sounds like you need to turn down your fuel. Do you have a wideband. You might be running rich.

Many things are a factor when it comes to idle surge. google "terrys talon trouble shooting." With that said, this is what fixed my idle surge problem.

SinaiTSI aka Justin helped me with your same problem. My car "during the summer" would idle around 2500 rpms after running 15 min in the heat. His recommendation was to loosen the throttle cable.

It is easy to find. Follow the cable back from the throttle body and you will see it directly behind the intake manifold. There are two bolts, one of them may have some other wires and junk on it as well but you still need to loosen it. Just loosen it an 1/8 of an inch or less.

That fixed my idle surge problem. I would try it for sure!

Good Luck,
Ryan

I had the same problem, I just adjusted the BISS and it fixed the high idle. The BISS is a screw on the throttle body that adjusts the amount of air thats put into the engine at idle. Search for it on www.vfaq.com for details on how to adjust it.
