hey guys, heres the issue, my car is making this god awfull squeeling noise, it is/was the power steering pump you could feel it grinding away. well then yesterday i put a brand new one in and still getting the squealing, my cousin who's a mechanic said it could be the rack-pinion.
cause i drove it for a while while it was squealing and probably chewed up the rp. need some input before i go by a freaking 304 rp and put it in. also if this helps i have a boot on my drivers side that is ripped. its the axle boot . could that be the cause... granted theres no fluid coming out of it,only fluid coming out on the drivers side front

This could be any belt, the rack and pinion, or boostleak even, at idle, wot, acell, decell, park, drive, ?

You should be able to listen to the bottom of the car at the rack, or top at the pump if its doing it in park, idle to tell whats makeing the sound.

Also wheel bearings maybe.

only fluid coming out on the drivers side front

What is this about, more info please :dsm:

the fluid that comes out, only comes out after im driving and it is power steering fluid i know that much. i dont have a exact place of where is coming out at this time. the squeeling is happening at like 2k rpms all gears, neutral etc

Turn the wheel all the way one direction and then turn it back the other way until it stops.

you can tell if your steering rack is gone if you have someone sit in the car and turn the wheel, while having the power steering cap off see if bubble float up when its turned...

check your timing belt and make sure one of your tensioners isnt about to crap out

Don't hold it in the lock position - that is all the way to the right or left. I'm not sure about mitsu's but some cars do not recommend doing that.

Check the belts, spray a little belt dressing on one at a time if the squeal goes away it's most likely a belt. Change them and use good ones like gates.

ok well my couzin and i put it in yesterday, and i was turning the wheel left and right and it was bubbling up and over flowing, i dont think its the belt cause its pretty new

I know I've had a couple of screaching ALTERNATORS in my day. Usually happens when power steering banjo nut leaks fluid down on the alternator. If it is your alternator, its a sure sign that its on its way out. You could remove the alternator and have it tested for free at Checker/Autozone just to rule it out.

had the same problem when i rear ended someone, 2 weeks later it started squeeling, one of the PS line got crimped and was touching the pulley, the PS fluid would bubble out and once its all gone it would squeel hella loud, check your lines be sure its not crimp anywhere if not the pump is bad

i dont think the pump is bad cause its the 3rd one ive put in cause i blew the first one i bought, the 2nd one was bad, and now this one, but ill check for crimped lines
thanks

can you explain the reason behind it being boost leak, cause i think i might have a boost leak just havent had the time to check for leakage

Boost leak is air leaking out of your intercooler pipes, pressurized air can make all kindsa sounds when it finds a way to escape.

If you have fluid leaking its not a boost leak, but a boost leak, if u think u have one, is a separete issue. :dsm:

yea i know its air leaking out, i think its coming from my throttle body, im going to check tom when im at my paretsn house cause dad has a compressor, but yea ps fluid leaking on front drivers sidedont know where or how
