Toronto,
Ok guys, I will buying a set of shocks/springs for my car and had some questions. My car is a DD and will probably see the track maybe three times this summer for some quarter mile timming and thats about it. I currently have tokico blue shocks with skunk 2 coilover springs and my shocks are blown. If I could retain the skunk 2 coilovers then great if not thats ok. I just want to lower my car with a good set of shocks/springs combo. What combo do you guys think will be close to stock ride qaulity? Now I know I can't achieve the same quality with aftermarket suspension but having said which combo or suspension will come the closest?

I just want know what you guys are riding on and what works well.

Thanks in advance!:thumb:

The closer you stay to the stock ride height the better the ride will be. If you get a set of lowering springs and keep the stock length struts than you will most likely just experience the same thing that you already have, blown out struts.

Yeah I don't think I would want to do that. What kinds of setups are you guys using for daily driving and how is the ride? I just want to get an idea what people are riding on and how has it worked from them?

On my car (96 GST) I have KYB AGX struts matched to Eibach's Pro Kit springs. I LOVE the drop and as far as the ride quality I love it as well. Of course it is going to be a much "bumpier" ride, but I drive a sports car. I want to be able to feel the road. In my honest opinion its not that harsh of a ride at all. I replaced isolator cushions and struts mounts all the way around as well. Definately a time tested combination as many other DSM'ers have tried it and had good things to say.

My fiancee's 98 GSX, I put KYB GR2's and H & R Sport springs. With her 215-45-17 tire setup, I thought the ride was absolutely SO comfortable. I could barely feel any bumps what so ever. Now maybe a week after I put that suspension setup on she wanted to put her new 225-40-18's. Definately a noticeable difference, still a smoother ride but you can feel more of the bumps (most likely due to the smaller/stiffer sidewall.)

One thing to keep in mind if you have an 18" package, drive very nice. As I told my fiancee with our Iowa roads. She went a little bit too fast over some rough rail road tracks and the front left tire slammed up in to the fender and bent it down a bit. Which caused the fender to cut the outside of the tire at about a 45 degree angle. So make sure to slow down when you see some nice sized dips.

I will also try to get you some pictures of my car and also of hers so you can see the different drops.

Thanks a lot for the input asexton6969 and yeah I would love to see some picturers. Also, I was thinking of getting the tokico 5 adjustables struts but with tokico springs rather then the Eibach. Does anyone have any input about this setup or about any others? Moreover, while I'm going to be changing the struts/springs is there anything else worth replacing while I am it which will improve ride quality and handling?

Just remember to replace all the strut mounts and isolator cushions (does anyone know what mitsubishi's name for those are?) They sit between the top of the spring and the top hat.

The isolator cushion I was talking about would be 40146.

What I call the top hat is 40418

Any local part store should be able to get you the strut mounts. I got KYB strut mounts through a local Advance Auto.

I'd be more specific if I knew the technical terms, if someone who knows could post what they are, that would be superb.
