Ok well all 4 balljoints on my car in the front are bad. I called my local dealership and they said the recall has already been done on them and they will not do them again(which iv heard that they have to so idk). So instead of getting raped on labor charges from a mechanic i wanted to see how hard it is to install these myself? Any special tools needed?

This is on a 97 GST. Thanx

Dang I was going to say go to the dealership because they did mine bu tlooks like you already have done that. As long as you get the car in the air such as jack stands I'm sure you can do it yourself. Just remember to get some grease.

The lower ball joint is just a bolt on assembly and is quite simple. It will take some labor but it is easy to see what you have to do when you get in there. I personally have never installed one of the upper baljoints before so I cant tell you if thats easy or not, but this thread will show you how to do it.

The balljoints really arent that hard. IMO Give yourself a day to do it and you can go to Autozone or whatever local car store and they usually offer a loan-A-tool program where if you buy the balljoints there, they will give you the tool to use. Also, most cheap chinese tool places ie. cummins or harbor freight sell the balljoint presses for 10-50 bux.
