Both cat backs are vey good. I have heard the Apexi and it sounds louder then the HKS. I am using the Carbon ti muffler as I upgraded the piping to 3 inch. Thats the downfall about the HKS, that for FWD (gst) the piping is 2 inch where as the Apexi is 3 inch. Both cat backs have there negatives and positives. What I ended up doing was that I bought an Ebay cat back for a GST which comes with 3 inch stainless steel piping and welded on the HKS carbon ti muffler. I really the sound of the HKS as it really opens up in the higher RPMS. The Ebay cat back is another cat back you should consider as many people use it and they have nothing bad to say about it. If you search, there is a whole thread on that cat back.

Like said before both of those cat backs are good.
The exhaust I liked the most when I had my 2g was the Thermal. It is easy to install and sounds great. The only bad thing about it is that it necks down to connect to the stock cat. Its only a problem when you want to go 3 inch all the way through the exhaust.

I run the Apexi N! & think its a great system. It has a great tone & is rather quiet if your still running some sort of cat under cruise & gets louder under acceleration/deceleration. I'd recommend it over the HKS because of the difference in piping size.

I second the Greddy EVO2. Nice and pleasant sound at idle. When you go WOT it gets louder but not unbearable. I currently run the Apexi which probably has less restriction but it is a bit louder. Maybe I am just getting old or something...

Now since I have my choice narrowed down. Do I need to get a diffrent cat if I go with a 3". I have just a stock turbo and stock down pipe. In VT you need a cat to pass insections. So anythoughts on that would be greatly appricated
