Sorry guys but I've always been a muscle car guy and have had V-8's , no computers, fuel injection ect , but I've always wanted a eclipse turbo . Just bought a 97 eclipse gst has some bolt ons and has 104,000 miles on it and wondering what the first thing I should do , wether it be engine rebuild or just new timing belt. Runs great so far but need new head gasket but other then that for 104,000 miles couldn't ask for better performance .Just wondering what the first things I should do with the car should be since it is a daily driver ?? At the same time though would love to toast those mustangs and camaros .

First thing you are gonna wanna do is replace the timing belt, while you are there do a waterpump as well. It's Arizona and hot as shit. While you have the belt off as well get a Cometic or MLS headgasket and a set or ARP headstuds if you are sure the gasket is leaking. Once you get that done do a boost leak test which can be found here.

Then from there is it what you wanna do with the car. Straightline or autox. All depends on your goals as well.

FIRST THING! RECIRCULATE THAT BLOW OFF VALVE

^^type it up in a notepad first and then copy/paste.

+1 on the timing belt change ASAP
+2 on the bov recirc (that causes a lot of crap issues if your car is not SPECIFICALLY set up for it)
Another thing is you would be wise to keep your heat sheilds on the exh manifold because it can screw up the alternator/ac fan

find out how to ground the timing adjustment plug and set your base timing to 5 degree's BTDC.

Set your idle by grounding the proper connector and adjusting the BISS screw.

This is all after the HG change of course. Oh and change oil often... turbo dirties your oil quicker.

Well first off dont just change the timing belt, first find out if its been changed and how long ago.
What are your horsepower goals for a daily driver. Ill get you some good links depending on them.
