ok so i have been reaserching and trying to figure out what cams to get in my car (2g 420a) i want to rebuild internals and then eventualy turbo my car. i looked at crower 64462T-2 and 64462-2 there both stage 2 cams. the 64462T-2 says for forced induction will they still work good in my car until i turbo it because it is a daily driver. this is where i was getting the "part numbers" i believe they are http://www.crower.com/cat/import/mitsu/cams/camshafts.shtml

anyone know what i should go with? remember i am new to all of this :(

so what should i 'build up' first to make it ready for boost, the only stuff i got is full exhaust and a ported and polished head w/ some valve work

I also vote for boosting it before you put the cams in... however if you are stuborn and want the cams anyway, it would work fine... enjoy the extra few thousand RPM powerband you recieve

Putting in a set of cams will give you power now and you wont have to build the bottom end in order to run them safely. If you put a turbo on you can still run the stock parts internally but they wont last. In order to run a turbo safely you will have to throw a lot more money at the motor. I would do the cams now and do the turbo later. :thumb:

yea this is something that will take me a long time to do becouse of money and its the only car i have to drive :( so i tihnk ill do cams/cam gears, then maybe around december do the pistons and rods (i was told low compression pistons are what you need for the turbo route, is this true)? i was thinking je pistons or wiseco not quite sure and eagle rods. thanks for everyone who has gave me input :thumb:

Yes, you will need to lower the compression to safely reduce the chance of knock and detonation. I assume that the 420a, in stock form has 9.0:1 compression, someone correct me if I'm wrong. I would recommend that you lower your compression to around 8.0 or 8.5:1. You can use 9.0:1+ compression, but it's not recommended because you will not be able to run pump gas, and unless the engine is built for that, then there is a VERY good chance that it will blow.
As for pistons, both are great, but it all has to do with your budget and what you plan to do. Wiseco's are a great value and many on here run them. I myself plan on running them later this year.

good advice dsmboostin i will probably end up using wiseco for the budget reason. I dont plan on running TONS of boost maybe 10psi is that a resonable number to shoot for?

Good info mixed with hear say.

9:1 is fine for pump gas. People run 9:1 compression on purpose after a forged internal build and run pump gas. It's all in your tune what you can run boost wise fuel octane wise and timing wise(sometimes most important) on pump gas and not detonate or knock.

edit: By the way I think stock compression is 8:8:1
