Hey everyone, I am new to this forum, but not to car forums in general. I know what your first response to my question will be, "do a search." Well, before I post this, I will let you all know that I have done a search and have found nothing helpful.

I have a 2G 1996 Eagle Talon TSi AWD, and I need to know what transfer case bolts I need. What size are they? How long? What do they look like? How many do I need? I believe I need 5, but I am not sure.

Any help you can offer will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Okay, I dug in the boxes that hold my entire engine...
(3) 5.5 inch bolts. The last 1 inch is the only part with threads
(1) 3 inch bolt. The last 1 inch only has threads.
The length includes the head of the bolt as well. The threading is 12mmx1.25 extra fine thread and the head of the bolt takes a 17mm socket.

yea i just went through tryin to find the bolts today, i found they are m12x1.25 and the three long ones are 5.5 inches, and the others should be about 3 inches, like everyone said. now dont expect to find the long ones at lowes/home depot or ace hardware. i couldnt find them at any chain stores, but i did find a specialty bolt store which i am going to check tomorrow, you might want to try and find a shop like that which specializes in bolts and fasteners.

youll probably need to get them from the dealership or junkyard, ive searched around for them a bunch and couldnt find them anywhere. the longest bolts that i could find that were high enough grade were only 4 inches.

Does anyone know how much Mitsubishi charges for there new X-case bolts. I need one of the two smaller ones.

TIP: Not sure if this is the best idea, but it may just get me by until I get the mitsu bolt.
- Stock CYLINDER HEAD BOLTS are about the same length as the short X-CASE BOLTS. You'll need to throw a few washers on there to take up some slack, but its got to be better than some off the shelf home depot bolt to get you by. I'd think they'd be strong enough. I let y'all know.

I actually had to do that with one of the lower transfer case bolts and it ended working out great. The reason I did that was because the one I replaced was pretty stripped out and would tighten down all the way.
