Does anyone recomend this for a 145K rebuild? I have not ripped it apart yet however for convenience on the new bottom end I have I think it would be a good idea. I am bulding a stock motor to keep me driving while I build up a fun one. Any comments, questions or concerns would be much appreciated.

Here is the link, it is the 18th one down.

JAM~4g63 Front Cover-Oil Pump Kit, 7bolt
NEW!
We only carry Brand New complete front cover & oil pump gear sets for the 2.0 2gen engines. When doing a engine freshen up or upgrade don't take a chance on your old worn front cover or oil pump gears. This may cost you an expensive engine failure.
*This new kit will include everything:
*New front cover
*New oil pump gears
*New seals
*New install gaskets
**Note:Will not fit the EVO4-8 engines

Well, without disassembling the engine the best way of determining if your pump/cover needs replacement is your current oil pressure. If you are running lower than typical oil pressure, then oil pump cover and gear replacement is probably necessary. This is normally a result of excessive wear on the gears and their housing, causing pumping efficiency loss.

How is (was) your oil pressure?

With 145k on the clock . I would definately replace the oil pump unit . As well as water pump , timing components .

at full boost i was hitting ridiculous numbers in the oil pressure department. my gauge only goes up to 100 psi but it was going past it at full boost. would it be more convenient to just replace it and use the old stuff for the next motor and in that case if its destroyed i already have the new stuff? it comes pre-assembled so i think i am going to.

To be safe, it wouldn't hurt anything to replace them. (Except your wallet.)

Your high oil pressure sounds like you've had the balance shafts removed. If you don't know the history of your engine, you might want to tear it apart and see what else has been done to it before making any part decisions.

IMO it is not an option to reuse the old pump on a new motor. Loko at it this way how much did you spend on this new short block? Would you rather spend a few hundred on a new oil pump or take the chance of rebuilding it again.

Do it right do it once.
