Ok well I know for the most part this has been beaten to death. I know running without a heat shield is also bad. Can you still run the lower heat shield if I install a tubular exhaust manifold? The whole problem with the alternator going and such, is that more associated with the lower or upper heat shield or just a combo? Are the odds really good that running a tubular manifold without heat wrapping it would cause melting fans, or blowing the alternator? Or is there a heat shield that is sold that actually works with a tubular manifold?

This is the one that really caught my eye:

The second one on the page I think.

The lower heat shield will protect the alternator. Now the fans are going to take some heat as well as the vavle cover and anything else that has plastic on it in the area of the header. My upper timing cover even has wrinkles in it. So wrapping the header would be the best thing to do especially in a car that gets driven alot.

How would it be if I just ceramic coated them? I have heard for a daily driver that it is not best to wrap them as they will get rusty pretty quickly and a lot more prone to cracking.
Would ceramic coating and not having an upper heat shield still be a problem to neighboring parts and or under the hood temps? Would it still cause the paint on my hood to fade?

you need to get that heat refelcting crap for the underside of the hood if you don't want the paint to fade.

Doesn't the car come stock with that? Picking my car up tomorrow from the shop, but I believe that it already has that.

The most important part of this question is really, if ceramic coating it with the sterling" 1300 degree coating will be sufficient for lowering the under hood temps, and not melting my fans etc.
