I have a front mount and am having my sidemount tanks replaced with 2 1/4" inlet/outlets. My question is how efficient would a side/front mount setup be. Would it help or hurt? Post pics of your setups, I want to see what everyones piping and setups look like.

Every one is talking about ebay frontmounts try one I am let me know how it goes or try a supra sidemount.

putting a side mount as a front mount? well to me that would not be worth it. if your going to mount a side mount to the front and build all your piping for it you might as well just put a real front mount on instead. i am using a godspeed intercooler from ebay and runs just fine. so i would recomend getting one from there instead of spending well over 300 for a name brand intercooler.

Sounds to me like he is talking about using a sidemount and a front mount...

If so, don't. If you tried to search for this type of setup(which I doubt you did), there's a reason why you wouldn't find anything.

haha when me and my buddy installed my fmic the piping didn't fit all up. I was leaving for college the next morning and we needed a way to get my car from his house to mine which was like 2 miles. Surprisingly, my smic filled the gap and completed the piping so I could drive it home. This is now gone and I've had custom piping made, but I am proud to say that I am the only dsm that I know of that ran a smic and a fmic at the same time haha.

And by the way man, if your thinking about doing this...Don't! If you think your going to have crazy high temps just buy a bigger fmic. The smic will just make you loose pressure and you will get made fun of.

well thanks for the advice! I am just going to run the fmic. I just saw that dejon offered a kit and thought it was a cool idea... Have any ideas for piping, any pics???

FMIC for sure. It will get rock chips and all and will kinda look ugly in a couple months but its efficient and also looks nice filling that bumper hole. Besides, why keep the sidemount when FMIC are cheap. SSAC makes a pretty cheap FMIC setup for 1Gs and I think a lot of people have bought them and posted positive results.

I've seen a lot of 2Gers grabbing SSAC stuff off ebay, still have yet to see a 1G kit. I'd go with the Punishment Racing kit myself if I had the cash, and maybe put some matte black mesh just ahead to help keep larger rock chips/dents from happening, without impeding airflow too much.

Or that. :). I dont want to start a debate but I agree with you, if you have money do what Talesin is saying. If you are tight on budged - Ebay.
