I just had a motor begin to knock b/c of an old oem pump that I was unaware of how much mileage it had on it. So I bought a new topline pump off of ebay. Yesterday I stopped by my local machine shop and he was working on someone's oil pump b/c they said it wasn't building any oil pressure. The pump looked very similar to a topline. Hearing that made me pretty damn skeptical of the topline brand. So with that being said, should a take a chance on my built motor with a topline oil pump or should I just fork out the $300 for the oem pump that is basically guaranteed to work. Also what about the pump from autozone? I think it is called Arness & Beckly or some shit like that. Any GOOD advice will be greatly appreciated!!!

I have never used a topline front case but I know SlowBoy started selling them as well as the oem front case. Maybe you could contact them and ask about their durability and maybe customer preferance (besides the price!).

I've had good experiences with topline pumps. Not one failure and I've used 3 of them personally.

i also am going with a oem oil pump other than a topline pump. im ordering a rack of parts from SBR also. and they used them on there motors they build(topline that is) but from what i've heard from plenty of good sources(wisemen) i vouched to stick with something that is guranteed to work. topline as timG says worked for him but its one of those things if your willing to take the risk...

Has anyone ever had a problem using the topline oil pump for a 6 bolt? I heard the suck the pan dry but ive already got one about to go on and was wondering if anyone has had this problem.
