I need new front shocks on my 1g and I was planning on getting KYB AGX's all the way around. Since I don't have sufficent funds for all of it right now, I was wondering if I could get away with running just AGX's on the front and stock shocks in the back?

Agreed. However, what are your plans for the car? Are you going to be lowering more than 1.5"? I would highly advise another strut if you might in the future (i.e. Koni). And if I were you, I'd wait to get both at the same time, unless you just want that 'look' right away.

I was going to get the fronts first because they are worn out and because I need to stiffen up the fronts so they stay grounded more when I go to launch. I wasn't planning on lowering the car that much, maybe just a half of an inch or so to take up some of the fender gap and get some better handling. I have a plan already set out, but I just don't have the funds to make it happen all at once.

Well, if that's all you plan on lowering, then yeah, the AGX's will be a very budget minded upgrade. Just be careful when changing the dampening settings on the fronts. The instructions are a little vague, and doing it incorrectly can damage the struts.

if you want the tires to stay down better in launch get the back. stiffening those helps way more than the front will
