What does adding aftermarket upper intercooler pipes to a stock intercooler do? is it worth it ? or am i better of gettin a front mounted?

It would flow a little better but yeah you're better off getting a front mount in my opinion.

If you plan on making big power in the future it would definately be better to get the front mount.

I agree thats its better to just save the money on the pipes and get a full fmic with piping. Reguardless of your goals your not going to have to worry about heat soak with the fmic. Check out the Punishment racing Budget Front mount kit.

It does improve flow, and can eliminate places for a boost leak to occur. Isn't their FMIC kits that utilize the upper intercooler piping. At least for 2gs. I'm sure you could fabricate one also. That's what I'm interested in doing.

I would suggest getting the Ebay kit with the direct route piping. Its cheap and it flows well enough. The point of a FMIC is not really for flowing, I mean it helps but the true reason is to keep it from getting heat soaked so you can run longer and better.

The punishment kit is like $485 i might off on that, but I trust them more than ebay and that probably beats ebay prices anyway. Plus all the parts you need they can hook you up.

Do what you want dude, just offering a suggestion I got my kit for 350 shipped and everyone had great things to say about the XS Power kit. I also have an Apex'i. But yeah Punishment kit I am sure is good too. A FMIC at the end of the day is still a FMIC

True that I wasn't completely sure on the price. The only thing is unless it just came out recently or I've never seen it they don't offer the ebay SSac front mount for a 1g its 2g only and I'm not sure what year this guys car is.

the hard IC piping just gives you a bit better throttle response because the stock rubber hoses expand under acceleration.

i did hard IC pipes for a bit, then when i went ahead and ditched the crap sidemount for a FMIC, i made my own piping anyways, but still reused the greddy upper ic pipe/elbow combo.
