Does your DSM eat coolant? I know mine does is that normal? or could there be something wrong?

In about a week it drinks the whole overflow tank..

Does your oil look milky? It's possible that you have a blown head gasket! :(

You may also have a coolant leak at one of your coolant fittings, check for leaks on the ground where you typically park it. You would probably smell the sweet smell of coolant when you are driving if this is happening.

That's not normal at all. Thats a LOT of coolant. If you can't smell coolant burning off some of the hoses (you'd know the smell), and you don't have puddles under your car where you park it, I believe C4uldr0n might be correct.

engine oil looks find and it doesn't smell of coolant i dunno i will have to digg into it more..

dont rule out a headgasket just because it doesnt look milky, you can have a small enough leak it pushing coolant out the overflow...

go to a shop and there is a special test where they take some of your coolant and mix it with a liquid and if it turns yellow you have exhaust gas in your coolant with = a headgasket or cracked something.

im a proven member because i have been on the forums for several years but choose not to ask stupid questions in which i can use the search function for...

I assume you checked to make sure your radiator cap is good.
Mine went bad and my car would actually overflow the tank and then when it cooled off and pulled the fluid back into the radiator the tank would be empty or low.
It only did this after I drove the car hard and I didn't even see the fluid anywhere until I made a really long hard pull and pulled over immediantly to talk to a friend. Sure enough I could hear it and see the fluid coming out of the over flow. Replace the cap and all was well.

You could also be burning it. Do you blow white smoke after you start it when it sits for a while? That would be a bad headgasket or something has a small crack in it. Go to a shop and have them run a compression test one your coolant system. If it holds pressure you should be fine.

Does your car over heat? Does the rad. stay full and just the overflow empty? Cause the overflow me be cracked.
Take it for a hard spin around the block a couple times and then listen for hissing or the sound of water driping on a hot surface. Loook for all possible leaks the thermostat housing, the radiator, ect.

I go through a little bit of coolant myself every once and a while but its always been the result of an old hose starting to go bad. Hell i just had to replace one last night.
