To hot for J B welding the wideband bung?

I was wondering what kind of temps are in the downpipe are they way to hot for J B weld? It says it can handle up to 500 F.

i used JB kwick weld to seal up the muffler on my pocket bike and it ended up cracking.
i dont know what temp the muffler got to, but i dought it was more than 500 F. . .

I would think it's not good enough. Aren't "egt's" usually higher than 500?

Yeah, I had mistakenly suggested using JBweld on a manifold, bad idea. Take it to a welding shop, it should not be expensive at all. OR! Better idea. Go down to your local community college and give one of the kids there $5 to weld it up for you. Make sure you check out their work first.

Not enough by at least half. 500°F is barely above burning paper.

The problem is I don't want to take the downpipe off so I'll have to take it some auto shop. Still hope it'll be rasonable just shops usually rip people off.

Your downpipe gets plenty hot, that JB weld would not hold...
