I took all the evap hoses and canister out of my 95 GSX. I routed a hose from the vent valve on the gas tank to my inner fender. I have the fuel return line disconnected because i'm installing the Aeromotive FPR and when the car was sitting outside in the sun yesterday fuel started pushing out of the line and leaking. As soon as I opened the gas cap, massive pressure released and it stopped. If there is that much pressure shouldn't it release out of the valve before pushing fuel out an open line? Is my valve stuck or does it take more pressure than that to open the valve.

or was it just the heat of the sun that made the gas expand? I eliminated the evap canister with the egr block off plate. I blocked off the vent hose. As it sits it is a sealed system with the feed line the return line and the vent line blocked off. Works well. I also have the same Aeromotive FPR system.

There's a special valve that holds some vapours pressure located on the firewall just between the hard line coming from the tank and the canister.
If you left it connected, for shure the pressure has less restrictive path through an open line than through the valve.
If you removed it, then there's a problem somewhere. Maybe the fuel cut-off valve on the fuel tank.

But i'm talking from what i've seen on my '97 GS-T, maybe GSX have different setup.

I'm suffering from just the oposite thing, my fuel tank doesn't hold pressure anymore. ANd sometimes smells gas on the rear area. And i didn't took out any vacuum lines or anything. It's all stock. :(

Yeah I think its the same on the GST. Right on the firewall I have the valve and a line running back into the fender and under the car so I don't get a gas smell under the hood. I guess the valve holds more pressure than the line. I'll reconnect the line to the FPR once I make the line to my rail and leave it out in the sun and see what happens. I haven't seen the sun here in New England in a while so I was safe until this past weekend.

If you're worried about happening again, you can always leave the filler cap unscrewed 'till you fix the rail, that way the return line will never leak again.
