sometimes when i am driving, maybe once or twice a week, my car will grind ever so slightly when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. i hope its not the synchros. does anyone have any other ideas or precausions i could take other then getting a tranny rebuild

no need for rebuild although it may very well be your synchros. first bleed your clutch. if that does help try putting lucas treatment and i had alot of tranny problems and actually, had the same problem as you but what i do to avoid grind is either double pump clutch which isn't so great or the best way is going from 1st to 2nd normally and then push the clutch in and before putting it in 3rd, while clutch is in just go to fourth and then release the clutch in 3rd. if you are really into racing hard the higher your rpms are the worse it should grind so you might have to have a tranny shop work on your synchros. good luck

When's the last time you changed the tranny fluid?

I would change your fluid before anything. You may have a leak and be leaking fluid. Check your axle seals and your drain plug.
