OK.I have searched for a while now and nothing on this so here goes.Ive heard rumors of shifting problems when putting a 92+ 5speed in a 90/91.I bought a awd 92 Talon for cheap.Ive already got the 4 bolt in my 90 and am going to put tranny and tcase in next. The 92 is a 6bolt.Also I got the tranny out and the clutch disk was in backwards could that cause any problems with the tranny. The car 114k on it and not even a floorjack scape under it.

I didnt even know it was possible to put a clutch disk in backwards, I didnt think it would fit. Can this be done? As far as looking at tranny to see if its shot, no. Try shifting it into all the gears with the car off, if it wont its not a good start. I thought only the 90 components were different on the 1G tranny swaps. Components I mean, cables, brackets, and actually shifter assembly.

That helps a little bit.So Ill have to use all of my shifter assem.Iv seen the disk in backwards once before on a S10.The flanges that hold the springs in the clutch disk were grinding on the pressure plate springs. The tranny would go into all gears so I guess thats good news. Thanks
