HP on TD06h 20g?

I made 330hp and 341ft. lbs of torque with a bad ecu on pump gas only using a gm maft for tuning. On top of that I could even tune because on the second run the clutch was fried by 5k, the afr was richer that 9:1 on the run and the cas was retarded all the way. (not a good day for the car)This was using a HRC 20g w/ the T3 hotside. I'm not sure whether it is a tdo5h or a tdo6h. I've had it for 3 years. Also the motor was stock except for a midly ported and polished head. With a build motor and good tunability you should be able to net 450whp. I'll let you know in about 3-4 months.:thumb: By the way the numbers were produced at 24psi. Remember the clutch was slipping so I wasn't able to hold full boost.:dsm:

on my old setup I made 340 awhp I had a big fmic, cams, pistons, intake, ported mani, and a few other small things.

Anyone else have anything to add to this?

I'm debating between 16g and 20g... bang for the buck seems to lean towards the 16g... wondering how much more power is in the 20g compared to...

WHAT? A 16g has put down 500hp. So i dont agree with that statement. But, what is true is that if your arent the best tuner, and want easy power, the 20g will put out more for the avg schmoe. But, the 16g will spool quicker and be cheaper.

I think there are better turbos than the 20g and its basically a waste for what you can get a 60-1 for nowadays.

16g hands down, if you plan on going any bigger than a B16g, go with a 30r or 35r, no sense in anything in between.
16g can spool fast, but the 30r will make 400+ with still decent spool,
If your on a stock block, maby cams, go with 16g.
if your on a built block/head I wouldn't do anything under a 30r.

Be it any of the FP variants, t3 setups, or something BW comparable.

Which garrett hybrids you mean? Like a PTE with a t31 wheel or something like that you mean. Most common chra's anymore are based of the garrett anyway?
Right, and I haven't found a reliable one yet.

Hybrids meaning T3/T4's in general. PTE is one of the worst I've seen....my buddy's 6031E blew four times on him for no reason at all. We tried running inline filters, restrictors, changing the oil supply to the head....nothing helped it. Balance was in-check, there was no metal making it to the turbo- yet every 800-1200 miles it would start smoking and eventually start howling.

Now I'll admit he was kicking that turbo in the balls on a regular basis running 34psi, but Precision tells you on their site the thing is rated at 650hp...how do they expect you to make that without pushing it to it's limits?

He gave up and bought a new HX40 for this season.

Ok. Thats what i figured. I mean, even the FP turbos are based off the garrett chra. So, what do you think is the best turbo?

Not all of them. The popular DSM Green and Red models are Mitsu-based.

Regardless, for the price you pay for any FP turbo they can afford to service it under warranty if something goes wrong with it like my buddy's Precision junker.

I've always admired MHI turbos for their durability....we're soon going to find out how Holsets hold up. Myself and three of my buddies are going to be running Holsets on our cars.

As well as I, with my hx40, i plan to run a good 25-30 psi daily.

I want my car to sound like this...

I think that is badman21's 650whp hx40 setup :)

Hey now. Just because CB did, doesn't mean the rest of us can ;) .The question is what can YOU or I get out of the compressor flow. The compressor map shows 42lb/min. If CB could get 500whp out of a 16g then he could get 590whp out of a 20g. Neither is realistic for 99% of us, NOT 'average schmoes'.

Yes there is cheaper out there that performs at least the same.

Im going with a 20g that has had some work done on my 91 gsx(mainly because i got it for free). With cams im hoping for 350-400whp. I know its possible but that doesnt mean it will automatically happen. Its a common setup to see a 20g with a 60-1 compressor wheel. I dont think any garage built 16g setup is gonna make 500whp since 90% of them dont make 400whp

They're definitely not as common as you're making it seem.

What you're describing is basically a FP Red, which is quite a rare and expensive piece. Here's how the Red looks compared to a standard 20G:

You can get a 20g with that wheel for 900 new. A little pricey i agree, but a good turbo non the less if you goals are 400-500whp with a soemwhat quick spool and good driveability
