Today me and my g/f father changed my right front wheel bearing it was real bad, took awhile thing was seized pretty good, but eventually got it. Then i drove it and it still makes a noise i am pretty sure its the same noise as before. it makes the noise ONLY when i am on the gas, when i am off it stops, he said it might be tranny related, some shaft bearing or something, but i dont think its that. what could it be, bad wheel bearing. i bought a new wheel hub assembly.

thanks.

It could very well be transmission related.

I just rebuilt my transmission, and got it back together last week. It too was making a noise that resembled a bad wheel bearing! Turned out to be a bad bearing on the intermediate shaft.

You can check this by pulling off the outer cover, and see if any play is noticeable on the two shafts.

Could also be axle, or front diff bearing related!

If its tranny related how much am i looking at? And i probaly shouldnt be driving it right, so i dont blow anything.

Well, do you think you can do the work?

If so the bearings are around $20.00 each. You do not need to replace them all. Just the ones that are bad (if any). If you do find a bad bearing and there is a lot of metal shavings in the case, then you most press off all the gears from each shaft, and clean the bearings under them!

If you do not think you can do all of that, then a basic rebuild at a shop will probably be around $800.00 to $900.00. But you can do it for as little as $20.00, plus oil and RTV sealant.

I did!
