Hey guys, I'm looking to stay mitsu on my turbo upgrade (want the stock look) and am looking for something between the e3 16g and the 20g. So I learned of the 18g. It looks stock and flows more than the 16g, but what I want to know is, why dont I see many running this setup. What are the advantages/disadvantages to this turbo. Also with supporting mods what range of HP does this turbo put out? thanks alot tuners.

Well, the 18g really isn't that big of a step up from a 16g turbo. The 16g variants are so cheap and abundant that not many guys are willing to shell out more money for the small gains you will see with an 18g.

These maps are not exactly accurate. I think the 18G is a great DD turbo, with good potential with maximum stealth. (they look at the outside and it looks like a 14b) I'm using one with my twincharger setup and I ran it alone before that and it worked well. The only down side I see is the bushing center section. A small GT garrett will spool faster.

sorta OT but you may also want to look into a bastard 20g. Thats where they take a 16g and machine out the housings and stuff in a 20g wheel. Not quite the flow of a straight 20 but more then a 16g. Not sure how it compares to an 18g.

Another factor is price. For the price I've seen 18gs for you could get much better turbos. Bolt on t04e housing turbos look stock as long as you have mitsu turbine to bolt to stock manifold, and run internal gate and not have the compressor polished. :)

The reason nobody runs an 18g is because you can get a far more efficient turbo for less money.

Agreed, if you go to 18g why not spend the slight increase of money and have a 20g seems to be the general consensus.

Naw, I wouldn't even waste money on a 20g. For the money of a 20g (~$1000) you could get a BB 50trim. :thumb:
