2gt timing belt replacement cost

i was just wondering if anyone has any idea how much it is to have a timing belt replaced at a dealer cause i broke my hand recently and cant do it myself..i know its gonna be more expensive, but just if any of you have an idea...thanks

Me personally I helped my father change out my timing belt on the 420a and it looked like a job that would cost about $600-$1000 at a shop

I called a local dealership and I believe it was around 550 just for timing belt and labor alone. That does not include other things.

My 97 GST finally hit 60k on the clock... time for maintenance. I'm having my T-belt changed on Monday. My mechanic quoted me $450 for the timing kit w/install, but I'm having my water pump replaced as well (recommended) which is another $190.

A dsm shop near me charges I believe 300 for the timing belt job. Obviously the dealership is going to cost a lot more than that though. I would rather have it done at a dsm shop or a place that is familiar with them a little. Also much cheaper than a stealership!

I think I paid $400 for labor and $600 for parts to include all belts, 3 pulleys, tensioner, 5 oil seals and harmonic balancer.

I believe it cost me $800 or so (CDN) for the parts when I did mine. But I don't like to do things twice so I replaced everything that was timing belt related (& a couple things that weren't ). I even replaced all the gaskets on the timing belt covers, so that should give you an idea

The dealership will usually cost double or a bit more than a local shop down your block. A bigger name automotive place, usually that has a couple of chains nationwide is prob a 1/4 more than the local small time mechanic.

Just call the dealership, they will tell you straight up how much they will rip you off for, and even suggest other ways they can rip you off by changing your transfer case fluid on your FWD.

^^agreed, i actually work at a dealership, so they will only rip me off for $35 an hour for labor (damn) and ill just order the parts too...thanks for the help

call the dealership, they usually have specials running when business is slow

i recently got quoted for $400 which includes timing belt and labor. good idea to get all belts replaced which they will not charge extra for labor. Could get close to $475...

I dont know about you but id like to have peace of mind when it comes to timing and go directly to the dealer

About a $1000 when I checked a month ago....but that's for all the usual worn out stuff, pump etc..

Get the parts and do it yourself and save yourself a lot of money. Its not that hard to do, just take your time and make sure you do it right.
