Blaat,
I got a F5M33 Eclipse GS-T gearbox with Eclipse axles. Whenever I drive on topspeed the drivehaft falls out of the gearbox. Causing it to leak oil. When I press it back in I hear it click.

Any idea what could cause the driveshaft to fall out? Maybe the Snap Ring is broken or something?

Ok, I really have to ask. I find this too odd.
How do you end up with halfshafts *falling* out of the tranny? I've always had trouble getting them to come out at all! Are the ones in our DSM's just that short? or what?

I don't drive a DSM but A Colt with a 4G93T engine in it and a F5m33 gearbox with eclipse GS-T axles as well.. But i had the axles shortenend. But they are exactly the same size as my old axles so they can't be to short.

When I try pulling them out manually they don't come out so you have to imagine the forces at work when I'm doing over 135mph..

I would suggest checking your motor mounts. Especially your trans mount. Mine was totaly shot and it kept pulling axles out when the engine was torquing. Went prothane and axle problem was gone.

I got the clip replaced.. thought the problem was away..

but tonight I drove quite fast again.. and I was shocked to find that BOTH axles had come loose from the gearbox. This is becoming really annoying! :( :(

If is was to be the gearbox mount wouldn't the axle get snapped out at bumps? It only happens at high speed driving.. really weird..

anyone of you got any idea??

Pull back all the CV boots and re-clamp them down, without burping the air out. the vacuum created can cause enough force to pull the shaft out.

As far as the engine mounts are concerned, I think more emphasis needs to be put on the 'worn out' part. Unless it's obvious, I wouldn't worry about it.

I still think your shafts might be a little short...

i got the same problem and im about to pull out my hair tryin to solve it....

Better late then never :coy: In my case it was caused by the axles being slightly to short. In a stock application it should be something else.
