I was reading that the quaife lsd might help to keep my tranny safe from breaking on a 350whp fwd eclipse.

So here am i asking the gurus :D

The only thing that is different about the Quaife is that it is a solid ATB diff when compared to the OEM open design. The only way that the Quaife will keep the tranny safe is the fact that it won't explode under extreme wheel hop. It will not keep anything else from breaking.

The quaife is a much stronger differential than the stock one. However, becuase the Quaife decreases wheelspin, it actually puts more load on your transmission. If anything, your gears take more abuse with the quaife installed.

Upgrading your motor mounts to poly will help not break your transmission. Like others stated, a true LSD will increase the chance you break your transmission. I think the upside is that when/if you do break your transmission, you get to upgrade with a Shep built one.

That depends, the most common thing to break on a fwd tranny would be the stock open diff (explodes with some good wheel hop) which can take out other things & the tranny case itself. So in this case, yes the Quaife is much much stronger & will stand up to most wheel hop abuse (though nothing is industructable). As far as keeping other things from breaking, that it won't have much effect on, either way.
