The tranny that is in my 2g awd is shitting the bed. I just picked up a transmission off a buddy of mine for 300 bucks. He says its in mint condition with original 95k miles.
Im wondering what are some good things to replace on the tranny while its already out?
I dont have the money to rebuild it. What are good things to replace? or upgrade?
Please let me know.
Thanks

Alright, how about welding the center diff? i also heard ppl double synchro 2nd gear?

I have a good buddy who runs a DSM tranny shop. www.jackstransmissions.com If you read his FAQ section he highly reccomends not replaceing synchros unless you doing a hole tranny rebuild. He has done it and it usually cause's something else to fail.

Now with a welded diff you have pros and cons. PRO is it wont break, strong as hell. Cons are when you turn in tight space's it causes the inside tire to churp since it doesnt slow down. This will cause your tires to wear real quick. Its a good thing for a drag car but I would not do it on a street DD.
