exhaust or what

hey im having a little trouble figureing out what i should upgrade first would it be exhaust or should i start on the exterior

Well it all really depends on what you want to do. If you want to upgrade the engeine's performance first, then you would want to start with the basci bolt on items. ie Exhaust, Intake, Down Pipe etc. But if you just want to concentrate on the looks, then there is no need to go into all of that right now. The choice is really yours to make on the car.

Exterior's are stupid.....

Follow the upgrade path man.........
1)Intake, Boost gauge, Boost controller
2)Turbo-back exhaust (will net you the most horsepower)
3)Upper Intercooler Piping, you have the HKS BOV
4)Porting of exhaust manifold and o2 housing
5)Fuel pump with rewire

That's a good start...

Why do people ask things like this?

It's your car man, do with it what you want to. Only you know what you want out of it. Show car, street machine, track car, dyno queen. Just go for it.

I will say though, that people typically in the dsm world are all about purity of exterior. Deviating too much from stock will usually get you called a few choice names. I don't say that to deter you from doing exterior, i'm just letting you know the general concensus of the board.

Now, since you asked what you SHOULD do, i'm going to say exhaust. Dejon makes a good system, Megan is a good cheap favorite. If you want to spend more, go for thermal, or RnR. Buschur also makes a plethora of great parts if you wanna pay a little more.

As staticbrainwash said, it's your car so you should upgrade it how you want to. There are a lot of 'recommended' upgrade paths out there (which I will post below for you) that give you suggestions as to what to upgrade when and in what order. You don't have to follow these to a T but it'll give you an idea as to what's good to do before other stuff (aka don't upgrade the turbo right away if you don't have all the supporting mods).

Don't do the extrior. There's no reason to do anything to the exterior. DSM's are already really good looking cars.

I think my name says it all. Plus talons are good-looking cars to begin with, and many visual mods in my opinion for our cars ruin their look.

He does have a 96, so I see the reason to want to upgrade the exterior. The 97-99 had the much more agressive (and more attractive) styling, which is why a lot of us pre-97's want to convert. Dunno what his exterior plans are, but those are mine, so I can sympathize.

I'd still upgrade the performance options first though, as thats what I've been doing.
