Logger/Palm wont connect to computer

I finally got my logger. Took a log of my car, but I cant get the palm to connect to the computer. I know its not the cable or the palm because it took the reading from my car. Any idea? I was gonna buy a usb-serial adaptor and try it on my labtop but I have heard this doesnt work. Any input will help. Thanks
