I hear a noise that sounds exactly like a problem I used to have which was a loose bolt banging against the downpipe. I have tightened that bolt and now I can hear a similiar sound coming from somewhere in the block or the engine. I can't really locate where it is coming from but it sounds like a bolt banging around or hitting against something making a "ting" type sound. It "tings" more/less depending on the RPM. I recently got my timing belt, water pump and everything behind changed, not that that has anything to do with it but thats all Ive done recently. Any ideas what would be making this noise?

Just a guess but it sounds like one of your heat shields might be loose and vibrating against something.

Does it match your RPMs? Or just get louder the more RPM youre at?

The exhaust is the only thing I can think of that "tings" when its loose.

It doesnt get louder the more RPM's I am at like a knock, it more matches my RPMs. I mean it sounds like the exhaust "ting" but inside the motor? Could something have broken off somewhere internal and be banging around? It sounds like a bolt jumping around in a tin can although its not real loud, just annoying enough to hear it in the cab if the radio is off. Car seems to run fine. Just came to mind the other day I had a muffler shop weld on what they called a turbo tube between the hi flow cat and muffler to quiet the noise of the exhaust. Could a peice of something have got sucked up when the were welding or no?
