I did have my clutch replaced a few weeks back, but what was drained was AUTOMATIC transmission fluid, and what they replaced was the correct Manual gear fluid. Just out of curiosity, anybody know any reason someone would do this if done on purpose? The previous owner wasnt an idiot exactly so there must be a reason. Only thing that i can think of is that automatic fluid is thinner than manual fluid which might have something to do with grip on the clutch from before (which was worn down to jack shit and maybe he didnt feel like replacing it). Also the previous clutch was a little burned up.. do the fluids have different levels of heating up under a load?

auto's and mt's run very different, I wouldn't run auto fluid in my mt ever... however is is known that some BMW's use auto tranny fluid in manuals, I don't know that persons reasoning though.

Mustangs use atf in the T-5 5 speed. But DSM's dont. I dont know why someone would do that. Mabey it was Syncroshift it looks kinda like atf.

I know New Venture Gear, the company that produces the 2GNT NV-T350 tranny suggests using a specific ATF in our MTXs. I don't know about the 4G63 tranny, though. I've never heard of using ATF in one of those...
